Celebrating Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month, and with the Thanksgiving holiday around the corner, is an excellent opportunity for your family to learn more about the Native tribes and peoples who lived and still live locally in Colorado and to dispel myths about the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Lincoln Elementary sits on the traditional territories and ancestral homelands of the Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), Tséstho’e (Cheyenne), and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux) Nations. Additionally, we acknowledge the 48 contemporary tribal nations historically tied to the lands that comprise what is now called Colorado. You can find a few stories about each tribe, as well as with additional resources to help you learn more, to connect with local native organizations, and create your own traditions after the jump.
Voting in November
Colorado’s general election will be held on November 8, 2022. This general election includes all of Colorado's executive officers, the Senate and House, and several ballot issues that will impact Colorado’s kids. Lincoln’s PTSA has compiled a few resources to learn about these ballot initiatives and races. We hope you talk with your kids about voting and see you at the polls this November!
Lincoln Fundraising
Despite being the nation's 12th richest state, Colorado public schools rank in the bottom half of the nation in per pupil spending and teacher pay. We’ve put together a document to explain this gap and to articulate the goals of Lincoln’s fundraising.

As a PTSA, we wanted to share this on our blog as well to provide additional visibility to anyone wanting to advocate for our school in regards to Speech Services. In addition, we will update this post with any community resources for Speech Services families might consider in the interim.

Carry a Petition for Initiative 63!
As you may know, through Initiative 63, we have the unique opportunity to add $1 BILLION in ongoing funding to the state education fund to attract, retain, and compensate our teachers and student support professionals—without raising taxes. Polling shows that if we can get this on the ballot, it will pass!
