**Q & A with Mrs. Dulsky**

Shelley Dulsky, Lincoln Elementary School Principal

(Questions submitted by community members and students at the meeting)

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Lincoln?

A: “It’s everything I hoped it would be and more. Your kids are amazing, the staff is fantastic.  It’s really exciting!”

Q: How do we improve our school lunches in quality and make sure we don’t run out of items?

A: Shelley reported that she has talked to the district as well as teachers to get the count right and to have the right amount of food for menu options.

Q: A gifted magnet program was mentioned at Back To School Night. Why?

A: “The gifted magnet program is something DPS is looking at across the district. If a program develops, we would have more teachers certified in GT and it allows us to differentiate and meet the needs of all students. It’s about how you process information, how your brain works. It is as important for students who are identified as GT as it is for students with disabilities.  It creates more inclusivity for all students.

Q: (Student): “How many field trips will students go on this year?”

A: “We are figuring that out right now and working on it by grade level. There are field trips for every grade.”

Q: Do you see a path where DPS can fund the Montessori Program in its entirety or will it always be a struggle?

A: “I want it to work and I don’t want us to struggle. We are thinking outside the box to make it work better. Things such as changing the grade level structure?  More to come…”
