PTSA Board Member Nominations

Our final PTSA community meeting of the year is on Thursday, April 24th from 6:45pm-8:30pm in the Lincoln Innovation Space. If interested in childcare during the meeting, please reach out to: president@mylincolnptsa.org.

We will vote for your next PTSA Secretary and Treasurer roles. We have one candidate nomination for each of these roles. They are:

Secretary: Erick Valdes

Originally from Miami, Florida, Erick Valdes moved to Denver (WWP) with his wife, Michelle, in February 2016. Together, they enjoy exploring Colorado’s great outdoors with their two young daughters, Elena (6) and Luisa (4). Both girls are in the Montessori track at Lincoln, where they are in Ms. Sheela’s class.

Erick deeply values the Lincoln community and feels incredibly fortunate to be a part of it. As an engaged parent and active member of the school, Erick looks forward to serving as PTSA Secretary and contributing to the continued success of Lincoln’s vibrant community.

Fun fact: Erick and Michelle live on Pearl Street, right across from the playground swings! If you ever see them out and about, don’t hesitate to say hello.

“I am excited to serve as Secretary for the Lincoln Elementary PTSA because I am passionate about making our school the best possible place for our children. I firmly believe that strong parent involvement is key to fostering a supportive, enriching environment where our kids can thrive. Being part of this community has been a privilege, and I want to give back by contributing my time to ensure Lincoln continues to be a place where students, families, and educators feel valued and supported. I look forward to working alongside other dedicated parents to make a meaningful impact.”

Treasurer: Kristina Lukus

I moved to Colorado in October 2014, from California. Yes, I miss the beach, but Colorado sunsets over the mountains are pretty darn spectacular. We currently reside in West Wash Park and have our 4 year old son attending Lincoln. Next year we're hoping to add to the Lincoln family, our daughter who will be 3 come the next school year.

Here's information about me, relevant to the treasurer position: I've been a licensed CPA since 2010 (CA inactive; CO active). I have a MBA from CSULB and BS degree at UCLA of applied mathematics, with a focus in accounting. I have over 15 years in public accounting. I've prepared and maintained a budget to actual analysis on engagements and jobs. I'm familiar with several accounting software programs (QuickBooks, Sage 50 (FKA: Peachtree), and minor knowledge with a few other accounting softwares). Microsoft excel and I are best friends.  At my prior firm in California, I had about 7 years of experience auditing nonprofits (including a convention center, transportation company and other smaller non-profits). I've been exposed to fund accounting; however, I would need to brush up on the guidance and compliance requirements specific to schools (which I would gladly do. Send it over and I'll start reading). I'm confident that I would be a great resource and addition to the PTSA group. I look forward to that opportunity. I appreciate your time and consideration. Thank you!

We also have a community member stepping up to lead our membership committee:

Membership Committee: Katie Parillo

My name is Katie Parrillo. I am the proud mother of a current Lincoln student for the past three school years, and soon to be a second student come this fall. I am also a Denver native and a product of the DPS school system. After attending college out of state, I ended up back in Denver where I got my undergraduate degree in Geography and Studio Art from the University of Denver. I moved to the mountains and did the ski-bum life for a few years before pursue a masters degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona. I am now a licensed Landscape Architect and have a small, independent firm. While I am currently a stay at home mom, I love my profession and am excited to devote more time to it when time allows.

On a personal level, I get tremendous joy out of being a mom! Exposing our children to ideas and places, teaching them new things, seeing the world through their eyes and re-experiencing the simple pleasures in life gives me so much purpose and fulfillment. I love the outdoors and enjoying it through camping, hiking, running, gardening and just relaxing in nature. Travel, cooking, art and exercise are among my other hobbies.

Volunteering as a PTSA member is a perfect opportunity to contribute to the school while also creating more community and further the outstanding reputation of Lincoln Elementary. I currently serve as a co-leason for Ms. Anne's ECE class and have organizing successful classroom events with lots of parent involvement. If I held theMembership Position, I would foster excitement and an inclusive community through personal engagement to encourage more parents to get involved and have some fun with the PTSA!
